Justice Minister Naomi Long MLA today met with a range of corporate and front-line staff who are delivering services to communities throughout Northern Ireland at the Probation Board for Northern Ireland (PBNI) Headquarters in Belfast.
The Minister said of her visit: “The work carried out by Probation staff is crucial to reducing re-offending and keeping people safe. Probation work within courts, communities, in custody and with victims of crime. Today I met staff working across a range of areas and I want to pay tribute to them for all they do to make NI safer.”
PBNI Chief Executive Amanda Stewart OBE said: “I was delighted to welcome the Minister here today to see first hand the work carried out by Probation staff daily and the excellent public service provided by a dedicated, professional workforce who are deeply committed to making a difference to peoples lives in Northern Ireland. I am immensely proud of all of our people and I know we change lives for safer communities.”
Board Chair Max Murray added: “It was a pleasure to have the Minister meet with staff and hear about the valuable work staff carry out to keep people safer. The Board is currently consulting on its Corporate Plan for 2023-26 and we had an opportunity to reflect on priorities for the future of the organisation over the coming years and without doubt our staff are at the heart of our planning for the future.”
