Graphic with blue, green and yellow background and a Business Support Manager quote saying "I have a passion for my job and my staff, I have a wide range of responsibilities including two community offices, two prisons and commumity service and my role beings me into contact with a wide range of stakeholders."

The Business Support Manager (BSM) is responsible for the management of front-line administrative staff in the organisation as well as supporting Area Managers to ensure that local probation services are provided effectively.

This is a busy role and there are different aspects within it, including ensuring staff comply with health and safety requirements and working with the Estates team to manage any local issues.

As a Business Support Manager you will be required to multi-task on a daily basis. You will have people management, problem solving and excellent verbal communication skills to tackle challenges as they arise. As a BSM you will be adaptable to and comfortable in different working environments such as prison, courts, urban and rural office locations across Northern Ireland.

A Business Support Manager has practical knowledge of all probation systems and processes, both operational and administrative, in order to effectively manage administrative staff. This includes IT systems staff use like the Electronic Case Management System, Criminal Records and Content Manager.

The role also includes liaising with IT Assist to process orders. Each BSM will also be responsible for  health and safety, building security and building maintenance.
