
As a member of the IT technical team, you will have an in-depth knowledge of the technology and digital infrastructure used by probation to deliver services that protect the public and hold service users to account.
Whilst having a general background with digital hardware and software infrastructure, staff will often specialise in different processes and systems to better assist in queries from probation staff. IT technical staff are also responsible for liaison with IT Assist on a daily basis.
IT Assist (The NI Civil Service wide IT delivery service), is responsible for Infrastructure Operations, Core Application Operations, Client Operations, and Service Planning and Innovation. Customer Services for Digital Operations also includes Account Management, Service Level Management and Business Continuity Management.
You could also be part of the IT business support team for probation’s Electronic Case Management System (ECMS), used to manage the details of over 4,000 service users daily.
Your duties would include a variety support functions such as system management, change management and incident management providing assistance to 450 plus users daily, resolving queries from staff working alongside third-party delivery partners.
You could be part of the PBNI Causeway on-boarding project overseeing the development, testing and implementation of new functionality which will connect probation’s ECMS with the Causeway integrated messaging system which supports electronic information sharing with NI Criminal Justice organisations.
You might also have specific special roles such as being the Information Technology Security Officer, Providing advice to users, evaluating security aspects of new software and websites etc. Accreditation of PBNI Systems and ongoing liaison with NICS IT Security Branch.
