The Probation Board for Northern Ireland are currently seeking to recruit for the position of Human Resources Business Partner.
The HR Business Partner will provide the interface between HR and designated teams to embed a consistent approach to human resource development and management that results in a more effective frontline delivery.
The successful candidate will hold current CIPD associate membership (as a minimum) and have practical experience in a breadth of HR activities, including Recruitment, Absence Management, Grievance, Terms and Conditions and Discipline.

Applicants must by the closing date have:
- a recognised professional qualification in Social Work and be registered as a social worker on part 1 of the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) register;
- at least 2 years’ management experience, gained within the last 4 years, in a medium to large organisation*;
- experience of leading and managing a staff team through a period of complex change; and
- a valid driving licence and has use of a car for official business or requires consideration of a reasonable adjustment in respect of disability to meet the travel requirements of the position.
*In defining “a medium to large organisation” PBNI has determined that a staff complement of at least 50 staff (whole-time equivalent) and an annual budget of not less than £10million would normally represent a minimum acceptable level.
It is desirable that applicants have had experience at Senior Management level either in a substantive post or in acting up arrangement.
Senior management level (in PBNI this is Assistant Director level and above) includes providing detailed advice on, or taking decisions personally or being party to decisions affecting strategic issues concerning the corporate body or organisation within which an individual is working either as an employee or advisor.

The Psychology Department of the Probation Board for Northern Ireland provides many services including: – psychological input into client assessments, pre-sentencing reports, risk management meetings, programmes and interventions, and collaborative work with colleagues in Community Forensic Mental Health Teams. In addition, the Psychology Department is undertaking pioneering work in relation to Domestic Violence, Substance Misuse and Mental Health in relation to the Criminal Justice process and which has drawn interest from Criminal Justice systems around the world.
