The Board is accountable to the Secretary of State and consists of a Chairman, a Deputy Chairman and not less than 10 nor more than 18 other members. Appointments are made by the Secretary of State in accordance with guidelines issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments in Northern Ireland. Appointments to the Board normally run for a term of 3 years and may be extended for a second term. Only in exceptional circumstances will appointments be extended beyond a second term.
