The Probation Board for Northern Ireland (PBNI), has launched its Corporate Plan 2008-2011 at a landmark conference to celebrate 100 years of Probation in the UK and Ireland, attended by staff, Criminal Justice partners, the Minister for Criminal Justice, Paul Goggins MP and the Rt Hon Jeffrey Donaldson MP MLA, Junior Minister (OFMDFM). At the Conference, ‘Probation – A Changing World, A Changing Role’, Paul Goggins said; "This Corporate Plan is the outcome of many months of consultation and thoughtful consideration.
“It reflects the changing role of Probation staff and the challenges they face.
“I am confident that they will meet these challenges with professionalism and vigour.” The Minister also announced an increase in funding which will be rolled out over the next three years and provide PBNI with the resources to strengthen its core services and deliver on major new sentencing reforms.
This joint initiative between the Probation Board for Northern Ireland (PBNI) and the Probation Welfare Service (PWS) in the Republic of Ireland was launched in 2004 and ran until June 2006. The Final Evaluation of the Project is now available
